FAQ
What is an Async ?
An Async is our own version of a voice message, designed for work. We’ve revisited everything that’s wrong with them in their current state. We know people don’t like listening to voice messages that are too long or that cover too many topics in a single message. Async messages can be read and come with a full transcript. You can add time-stamped and threaded reactions (emoji, voice, or text), search inside Asyncs, and share Asyncs with a person or a group thanks to unique URLs.
What is an Async Personal URL ?
Just like your email address, or your phone number, you will now have a personal URL on Async (async.com/name) that you can share with anyone with whom you’d like to have an asynchronous conversation.
How is using Async different from a voice note on Whatsapp ?
Although a lot of people use Whatsapp at work, it remains a fairly basic communication tool. Its design encourages users to see it as a chat app where you expect people to respond immediately. Conversations on Whatsapp are also not structured around specific topics like an email or a meeting. We’re fixing all of this and more to turn voice messages into a productivity-oriented communication tool.
Why use Async ?
What if you could free up your calendar with voice messages you can share and respond to whenever you want? Async is perfect for when an email can’t express all of your excitement, but your voice can. 7 Billion voice messages are shared every day. They are a very powerful and productive communication tool. We wanted to bring them to the work communications stack as an alternative to some emails or video calls.
Who is Async for ?
People who are in charge and overbooked. Feeling overwhelmed by the never-ending stream of emails and meetings? Frustrated by the end of the day because you haven’t had enough time to focus on your priorities? Async was built for you. It’s for everyone who is looking to have more control over their own time: CEOs, investors, consultants, freelancers, head hunters, business leaders and more.
What is asynchronous communication about ?
Always being reachable doesn’t mean you’re always available. But the pressure to answer everyone in the moment can make it feel like none of your time is your own. Asynchronous work is a growing movement and a secret weapon for more and more people every day around the world. Simply put, asynchronous communication is when you send a message without expecting an immediate response.
Where is Async available ?
Async is currently available on iOS, desktop, and web. The Android version is coming soon.
How can I get access ?
We want to make sure we start by giving access to users who are really experiencing the specific pain point we’re addressing. This is why you’ll have to answer a few questions when claiming your personal URL. Please bear with us as we’re letting people join us very slowly. You can always email us at [email protected] with any specific questions or requests in the meantime.
